This seems a good deal

A freind of mine is selling his road bike.

New Giant Defy AL frame
Giant carbon forks
Shimano Ultegra rear/front mech
Ultegra brakes

Not sure about the rest of the equipment as I only had a quick look around the bike but I am sure it will be good quality.

All this for £300

Too good to pass up?

To be honest I am not sure. It is a new frame in white and had something along the lines of 6006 along the top.

  • Possibly a Defy 3....

I presume your mate has had the forks and Ultegra bits put on as extras? Don't think they come with the standard bike...(carbon forks start on the Defy 4 i think)...

Depending on how old the bike is, how many miles etc and what the exact model is/what upgrades it has would all depend on the price. If it is indeed a Defy 3 with upgraded forks and Ultegra bits, and it's in good condition, then £300 isn't a bad price. Probably what one would go for on eBay. Cheapest i can find the standard bike for is £485

But again, it depends on the model etc...

Sounds like a great deal to me! A decent alu frame etc with ultegra all round for a bargain price.

To be fair, after what I've seen on ebay this sounds good to me.

I think he has built the bike from scratch, using the Shimano kit off his old bike that got written off in a smash. Everything else (frame, wheels, forks etc) is new.

He is a very keen cyclist so I can't see any of the gear being cheap rubbish.

It's a good price (As long as it fits you)
  • The defy range works backwards ie the 4 is lower spec than the 3. My 3.5 has a carbon fork but the 4 doesn't. With Ultegra too I'd say it's a proper steal

It is a medium frame and my freind the same height as me (5' 11") I will ask him if I can take it out for a ride to make sure it is OK.
