In France I saw a Dutch couple who were riding the typical Dutch style bikes with Tri-bars. The really weird thing was that the Tri-bars had been mounted at about a sixty degree angle upwards. I wasn't sure there would be much in the way of an aerodynamic benefit.

I have tri bars on my tourer. It's another handlebar position that takes the weight off the wrists.
