Lockring keeps coming loose on my sram cassette, every dozen or so miles I need to tighten

I've had a search an lots mention spacers and i don't remember anything about spacers when i stuck it on
i've to go to car parts store and i'm hoping to have a moment of clarity on the ride there

you can not be tightening it up enough.

what cassette is it? what hub? spacers are not normally needed.

As the top gear usually has a flange on the outer end, even if you needed spacers it wouldn't chage anything as that gear bottoms out (I have to run a spacer on my Crossrides with XT cassette as top gear bottom out before the cassette is clamped) - do it up tighter!

Unless of course your referring to the cassette or freehub wobbling and the lockring isn't actually coming loose at all?

(I have to run a spacer on my Crossrides
and that is because the Mavic freebody is longer than shimano/sram. As it is designed for the Mavic 10spd cassette.

Nick, yes, the reason I mentioned it was even in that case the lockring doesn't come loose.

may have been a bit eager, i think its one of those- wait n see if it gets worse

it came loose once, have tightened it and noticed just over a mm of play since on the smallest two rings of the cassette, hope this is normal and not signs of wear of the hub..

btw HG50 cassette if i recall correctly, not sure of the hub -'factory fitted'

in what direction is this "play" bodies do not "wear" as nothing moves.

some sram cassettes have a spacer between the smaller rings though dont they. have you perhaps over looked that?

cant otherwise see how it would come lose, 40nm iirc.

Any rotational play on the smallest ring is indicative that the locknut isn't tight enough, there can be no other cause on that sprocket that I know of.

damn.. suppose i better dismantle the axle/hub once more and give it a bit more oompfh (Nm) i think my next investment before a new ride is a torque wrench set

thanks for all inputs, much appreciated :)

check that the small cog is fitted correctly.
