Advice Needed - What are my Rights?

Hi Everyone,

I've got an issue with my bottom bracket on my caad9 (less than a year old). Basically i took the bike into the shop and they've diagnosed that the BB needs to be rebuilt (it's BB30 with press fit bearings).

My question is this - should i be paying for the work, or is it something that should be covered under warranty?

Warranty.
It is not a big job / expense to fix and should be covered by the guarantee - er did you buy it from the shop to took it to? I presume you discussed warranty?

warranty and it's a well known issue with that model so the LBS should already know about it (assuming it's where you bought it from as your warranty is with them).

yes i returned straight back to the shop that I bought it from!

Hmmm I'll be a little disapointed if it's a known issue with the model, I use the bike for commuting and it will be a pain if it has to go back to the shop every few months to have the bearings rebuilt...

Perhaps ask for a different / better BB30 BB to be insrtalled, and offer to pay the difference in retail cost of the BB. Not ideal but for warranty all you're likely bto get is a like for like replacement, which may fail or may go on forever (much like any B for that matter!)
