BMC Impec - any experience? Caution: possible bike p0rn...

I've seen a few articles about these, and a couple of (brief) ride reports, but not much comprehensive information on availability and what they are really like.
Anybody here have any experience of these, either riding or trying to get one? I gather they are a special order only kind of thing, and yes I know the price is eye-watering. Just that there is a particularly significant milestone coming up late this year and a special present may be justifiable!!
I also rather like the SLR01 Team model, which is readily available, just looking for something a bit special.
Anyone?

What are all the plasticy looking bits on all the joints?0

In plain English, they are lugs.
In BMC Swiss-speak, apparently they are part of the "Shell Node Concept" system or some such.
They make the tubes and these lugs are high strength carbon, then all bonded together. Two versions, this one in all black, and another which has red lugs, sorry Shell Nodes.Open One+ BMC TE29 Seven 622SL On One Scandal Cervelo RS0 -

There was some problem with the launch this year and they never went on sale to the public as far as I'm aware. They are being relaunched next year with some additional colours, I beleive the frameset alone is in the region of £3000.0 -
I quite BMC's , some of their paint schemes are pretty cool but I'm not sure about this one. There are so many black bikes about at the moment, aren't they going to look dated in a few years?
Each to their own . . .0 -

Really? Damn. They are still detailed on the BMC website, so figured they must be available.
Time for a (long) trip the nearest dealer to ask some hard questions...Open One+ BMC TE29 Seven 622SL On One Scandal Cervelo RS0 -
Lack of reviews/availability put me off. I had a brief test ride on an SLR01 but wasn't really long enough to get a proper idea of how it rides but it certainly didn't blow me away. I think Evans are the importer (and presumably the exclusive dealer) aren't they in the UK?0

I got the impression that they aren't a stock item for any of the dealers, but must be one available somewhere for demo.
I'm in Australia anyway.. will go hassle the nearest dealer.Open One+ BMC TE29 Seven 622SL On One Scandal Cervelo RS0 -
There was an article on, I think, road.cc and it was saying that Mr Evan's win in the TdF has stimulated a run on sales of BMC bikes in Australia and as a result they're running out !0

T'is true. BMC distributor was quoted in paper last week that they have sold more bikes in the last 3 weeks than they did in the previous 3 months, and stock is low.
They also did a Tour promotion here for the SL01 bikes, knocking a chunk of money off the RRP while the Tour was on. Bet they wish they hadn't as they'd probably have still sold them all now anyway at full price!Open One+ BMC TE29 Seven 622SL On One Scandal Cervelo RS0 -
