im looking to race as my competative side is twitching ,
Doing a long ride with 50 plus others then bursting out a sprint at the end doesnt interest me at all ,
i want to be doing something where im racing myself as much as anything and i bloody love hills .
im in the bristol /bath area ,what are my options round here or do i need to go further afield ,

Sounds like a hilly time trial would be ideal. Check the Cycling Time Trials event calendar for events in West region (U course codes).

Only problem is the season is pretty much done now although there are events on until October, many are hill climbs (very short, balls out efforts).

Failing that, what about a sportif? These are not races though (at least not in the UK).

Hill Climb season starts soon - you can ride them on any bike you like as it's quickest to the top that counts. Check out Cycling Time Trials (CTT) website for more info.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

To race an OPEN TT, you must be a member of a CTT affiliated cycle club, but no license is required.

You don't need to have a TT bike, you can ride anything aslong as its legal, there are a few regs (not many), you can find them on the CTT site http://www.rttc.org.uk/

YOGi Sporting 25mile TT, Sept 11th

It starts nr Tavistock and goes across Dartmoor to Okehampton and back again, so it has enough hills to keep you very happy, about a 2 hr drive from where you are.

Only condition of entry is a helmet.

http://yogicycling.com/ will tell you addr to send entry to/fee/entry form.
