MTB /Under Shorts / Shorts

Just looking for abit advice really.
As im not to cycling im sure every ones after abit more comfort on the saddle.
iv looked at a few websites some say padded under shorts and some just don’t but then if you read some shorts they kind of already have a lining.
I find shorts expensive for MTB but if there worth it ill pay it. But then i found some padded under shorts and i thought id try them but i carnt seen to see many on the market.
Who recommends them??
