Sore Vertebrae

About four years ago I was go karting and I crashed into the kart in front of me (their fault of course). At the time I really hurt my back and thought I had maybe broken some ribs too as pain was sort of localised but radiated out, for a couple of days it was very painful. Somehow I managed to ride a sportif in France a week later in a pretty reasonable time!
Basically since then I haven’t had any problems with my back, I did have a bit of sciatica though but not too bad.
Anyway a few weeks ago I had a back massage and noticed my spine/vertebrae is tender. If you push on the vertebra but just to the side it feels bruised. This is in the same spot as where my back originally hurt when I crashed, probably the point of impact.
Just wondering if anyone knows why and if I should go to a doctor or something?

Don't bother with a doctor, much better to get serious medical advice from a cycling forum."I have a lovely photo of a Camargue horse but will not post it now" (Frenchfighter - July 2013)0

You may be surprised at the medical advice I have received and given on internet forums. It has been very useful in the past.Mañana0 -
It could be a whole range of things.
I have something similar which (after numerous tests and investigations) turned out to be an inflamed ligament which still thinks it's under attack following a punctured disc a few years ago.
Definitely go and get it checked out. Doctors generally aren't great with backs so if you have medical insurance, see if you can get a referral to a neurologist. I had to go through numerous MRI scans, X-rays and a discogram before they even found the punctured disc, let alone the ligament damage.0 -
I wouldn't hesitate to deploy every medical resource I could Google to get to the bottom of a back complaint - these things can cripple you bad-style. As for getting a massage - how pampered are you?!
What do I ride? Now that's an Enigma!0
