Pannier rack for a frame without eyelets?

Hi all,
I was hoping to fit a pannier rack to my bike (a standard Focus roadbike) but it doesn't have any eyelets. I've seen the seatpost-mounted racks but I've heard they're pretty terrible!
Are there any better alternatives?
thanks!

Blimey - no idea it could be that simple!! Thanks, I'll order some and give it a try.0

Best to pair them with a seatclamp with matching eyelets... They're a lot more secure than the p-clips for the top mount.0

Sorry, I'm a bit confused now... What sort of rack would I need?0

Any rack should fit. You just may need to get some small nuts in addition to the p-clips, and may need to get some different length/shaped stays.
ride_whenever was suggesting something like this thing:

instead of using p-clips for the upper mounting points.0 -
As an alternative to the P-clips, you can get racks that fit at the bottom using a special quick release skewer. There are a few types:

If, for any reason, you have a solid rear axle, you can get replacement track nuts with built-in pannier mounting threaded holes.0 -
I use a Carradice Super C saddlebag with an SQR mount, It places the weight a bit high (up by the saddle, but this can only be felt when out of the saddle and grinding. My reason for getting it is I have carbon seat stays so wouldn't really like to put load on them. It also has the advantage that it can be removed in seconds, leaving just the clip on the seatpost.

Hi Dave,
I used to own a Focus Cross Expert and was in exactly the same situation as you.
I had the following setup:
http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/tubus-clamp-set-rack-eyes-for-seat-stay-mounting-prod12723/ in size 21-22cm.
http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/tubus-adapter-set-for-quick-release-axle-mounting-prod13340/
http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/tubus-logo-rear-item117613.html
My seat stays were 19.4mm so I just used some inner tube to fill the extra space and to protect the frame.
It worked brilliantly. It was sturdy as anything and all the Tubus gear was top quality. The only gripe I had (albeit a very small one) was that you had to be careful when removing the QR axle that you caught the two washers. Other than that, I was very pleased.

Topeak works great for me on full suss and road bike. Got a light bracket and can put a little mud guard on it. Topeak MTX trunk bag DXP with sides down is pretty big and can fold sides up when not needed. Waterproof cover works well too. Fairly expensive to buy the lot but has served me well.
