Cool photos, but you watched the Alpe d'Huez stage in Bourg d'Osions? Have I got that right? Why not walk onto the first few hairpins of the climb?0

It was tempting but it is due to having young kids. Getting them to walk up the first few bends of the Alpe would have been hard enough. Once there we would have been in the heat with no access to anything.
Where we waited we were next to the Soujo-sun van giving away free milk drinks all the time and yogurts, etc.
The kids all love watching the TdeF having been for the last 3 years so it will happen. In 10yrs time we'll be on Dutch cornerTri Coaching

Ahh, makes sense now. I was on the Galibier the day before and ran out of water! Not great. And did you watch the stage finish into Gap the day before? How wet did you get?0

No we were staying about 1hr North of Gap so just went for the Stage depart. First time having been to a start village and didn't know what to expect but I would highly recommend it to anyone.
It is like being on the football pitch before a cup final and saying hello to all the players. Hopefully the TdeF will always remain this accesibleTri Coaching

So you were staying in/near Briancon? Where are the photos from the Galibier stage?0
