gears shifts

hi, i have a specialized allez road bike with 24 gears, i really like it but the only proplem i have is shifting gears somtimes it jerks forward but i can never get the chain to be quiet its always ratling and it really gets on my nerves, and im not on an 'extreme angle' but it still does it im new to cycling so any help at all i would be very gracefull, thanks

Have a look on youtube. They have some great videos for beginners about bike maintenance. Usually you just need to adjust the tension in the cable with the adjuster on the rear deralleur.0
