Thinking of going on monday. Anyone any opinions as to whether its worth it? The last downhill sounds great but some reviews say the rest is a bit boring?
Any comparison to Nant y Aryn or whatever its called....?
If anyone has done it recently any comments on conditions there??

I rode there recently (about 6 wks back). I really enjoyed it. It is largely split into one long ascent followed by one long descent. The descent is quite tricky in places, mainly due to the slippery nature of the terrain in the wooded sections (which I can imagine never fully dry out due to the shade). It was very very quiet. Saw one person in the car park that's all. I can't compare to Nant yr Arian as I haven't been there.0

Haven't ridden Climax, but I have been to Nant yr Arian.
Whilst that means I can't compare the two, of course, I can at least tell you that whilst I enjoyed Nant a great deal, it didn;t leave me with that one "killer" memory of it, in the same way that the properly huge centres, like Glentress, Llandegla, Coed y Brenin etc do/did.
Still I enjoyed it though.0 -
What about the Mark of Zorro section yeehaa? That seems to be the section everyone raves about. Nant is one of the places on my list to visit soon.
To the OP: Climachx was worth it in my opinion. The descent is long and really fast (you should enjoy that at least - as long your username is ironic!). The quietness and solitude when I went, with great views, also adds to the feel of the place.0 -
The mask of Zorro section is nice, sure, but it doesn;t seem to have it's own standout character.
I really enjoyed it though, don't get me wrong, but I wouldn't travel down just to ride there again, I'd be looking to doa weekend, and ride some other stuff nearby as well.0 -
Climachx was a good ride, the final descent is a corker and the trails are well built. It's too short for one lap in my books, plus the trail is very much fireroad, singletrack, fireroad, singletrack, more fireroad.......you get the idea. Also very exposed in parts so take precautions as necessary.0

Cheers for the ideas guys.
yeehaam- Not expecting to be the same as Brenin or Llandegla, but done everything at those and looking for something different. But cheers for the heads up on expectation.

Cheers again.
