Hey, long time lurker whose finally joined up to ask for advice on what bike.Ive narrowed it down to the boardman FS pro or the Nerve XC 7.0. I plan to do mostly singletrack and trails but a bit of everything on it.

Boardman fs pro

Nerve XC 7.0

Both have very similar specs, with X9 Derailleurs and avid exilir brakes, though the boardman has a slightly better version. The boardman also has a larger fork altough it weighs slightly more.

Any advice would be very appreciated as i am torn between these bikes and i cant test ride them as both are direct only :(

p.s, Does anyone know when the canyon 2012 range is avaliable for order?, i know they're being annouced at the eurobike show in two weeks and im wondering if its worth waiting for the 2012 nerve xc,[/url]

Nothing between them really. I have the Nerve so voted for that but I have had a quick spin on the Boardman and you wont go wrong picking either. Canyon has to come from Germany so can take longer to arrive but Boardmans always seem to be out of stock in the popular sizes so probably no difference on delivery time.

Canyon have a 30 day exchange if you order the wrong size get someone to measure your carefully and use the calculate frame size feature on the website or ring canyon uk.

Both pretty xc biased bikes, as you say similar spec. I'd probably get the Boardman, really like the frames and easier to sort out issues as they are based in UK and pop into a Halfords and test sizes at the bigger stores.

Thanks everybody for the replies, seems like the canyon is ahead on the poll! I spoke to the manager at my local halfords and he's picking up a boardman for me to try tommorrow so i can give that a try.

The boardman has the 2x10 chainset, ive never used one but bikeradar only gave it 2.5/5 on the reviw which leaves me wondering if its better going for the canyon simply for the different chainset? Has anyone has any personal experience with it?

Finally, is there any difference between the quality of the suspension?, i've never tried fox but people have said they are great!

Wouldnt let the 2 x 10 chainset stress you unless you do a lot of really steep slow climbs or are spectaculary unfit. I have the 3 x 10 on my Canyon and already I am thinking of dumping the middle and big rings fitting a 38 tooth ring and a bash ring.

Most people have a favourite out of the two Suspension companies. Fox and Rockshox make really good forks. The Rev is considered one of the best Trail forks available for the top end models and the entry level stuff is decent, Fox 32's aren't as stiff bit are generally lighter than the equivalents.

    Hi!
There's some minor information already available for 2012 range:

So far people think it will be mainly "cosmetic upgrade" and have doubts that the frame would radically change.

Of course it might be completely different accessories.

Finally, it seems mid september they offer the "2011 range" on sale.
