Looking for owners advice - looking at the Orange Five Pro vs Zesty 314 vs Spesh Pitch . Any owners out there can give me their thoughts. I've ridden the Zesty and Five and love the both. I'm 5ft7,about 65KG and ride mostly Surrey and Swinley, tho am off to Morzine for a week soon. I don't do silly jumps or drops but am quite adventurous.
Any thoughts guys?

What is your budget? What did you love about said bikes? Can you test the Pitch?
  • Budget is pretty much what I want but I'm conscious that I'M NOT A BRILLIANT RIDER SO I SUPPOSE I'M TRYING TO BE REALISTIC ABOUT HOW MUCH I NEED TO SPEND.
I have a Canyon Nerve which I hate (apparently I'm the only one who does) and rode a mates Zesty 214, which felt so smooth and composed. I the rode the 514 which was as good but a tad lighter. The Five was really comfy and well made, and was good on the trails. Both bikes seemed to allow me to ride quicker and be a bit more daring than the Canyon.
I have an Evans nearby who are getting a Pitch in to try but that will be a few days in coming. However their test rides ar 'round the block'.

Which Canyon Nerve out of interest? AM, XC?

Even a small test ride can give you an idea for geometry and fit, and how the suspension reacts when pedalling.
  • supersonic - the Nerve XC 5.0 , based on the great reviews everyone gave it. Noy my cup of horlicks at all!!

Ah, well the 5XC is an XC bike - you are now trying AM bikes with more travel, stiffer parts and more relaxed geometry, no wonder they feel more composed! Pity you didn't have the AM version ;-)

It will come down to feel in the end - The Zesty 314 is a decent weight for the price. The Orange 5S is pretty heavy and has a lowly spec for the 2k. (I take it you meant S as the Pro is 2800!)

Not being biased but I love my Five pro (2010), you're the same height as me so your probably looking at the 16" which should weigh in at around 12.5kgs with trail tyres fitted, heavier with down hill treads naturally.
Its ability to pitter patter over the small stuff and then gobble up fields of loose baseball sized debris is amazing.
Have even raced it in a 110 km XC race, I was nearly dead by the finish but it can be done. A versitile bike that leaves a big smile on your face every time.

  • Thanks guys. I keep gravitating to the Five so may look to go second hand on a Pro.
