For my birthday, Mrs EKE just got me the Rapha Galibier jersey.
My first Rapha item and now I have to climb the Col to justify wearing the jersey.
Need to get a roadbike and get in training for next year, sharpish!

Happy Birthday - why wait until next year, still time to get out to the Galibier, ride up it from both sides and then wear the jersey.0 -
Interesting reasoning for your challenge, but good luck, happy birthday and why do you not have a road bike already?0

It's a good job she didn't buy you a King of the Mountains jersey - that might have taken some training for....ROAD < Scott Foil HMX Di2, Volagi Liscio Di2, Jamis Renegade Elite Di2, Cube Reaction Race > ROUGH0

Hang on a second... you don't have a roadbike. You don't have a roadbike.

A true scalp is not only overtaking someone but leaving them stopped at a set of lights. As you, who have clearly beaten the lights, pummels nothing but the open air ahead. ~ 'DondaddyD'. Player of the Unspoken Game0 -

Are you sure she didn't win it on the ITV4 TDF coverage and she has in fact not bought you anything?0 -

Happy Birthday.
I'm planning on the Alps at some point next year. I'm not buying the jersey in advance though......--

It's something I want to do as I am quite sadistic when it comes to hills/mountains/climbs etc I think it's the welsh blood in my longing for the hills0

I don't have a road bike at the moment as I keep snapping frames (two in the last 9 months). I am now in the market for an Unobtanium frame as only they can handle my awesome power.
I must have a climb of Balham Hill. I don't remember it being anything special, but you SLondon softies seem to be making a big thing of it.FCN 3: Raleigh Record Ace fixie-to be resurrected sometime in the future

Happy Birthday; nice present.
I rode the Col du Lauteret from the Briancon side last month with my two sons (they are 18 & 20).
The Lauteret is basically the 2100 metre warmer upper for the Galibier. You need to ride circa 25km with every pedal stroke uphill before you turn right at the top and get straight onto the Galibier climb for another 8k to get up to 2,645 metres.
We all managed the Lauteret easy enough but the Galibier was closed. It looked very doable but will have to go back again to finish it next year.
Halfway up
top of Lauteret and there's low cloud

Happy b-day eke and si (bit late....). Why not use the beast you commute on for Galibier, the gearing should be ideal :-D0
