Hello all,
I'm a roadie just venturing into the murky depths of mountain biking and looking to buy first bike (aiming to spend approx £600.00).
I have seen the Merida Pro D here - http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/Bike+Shop ... S-PROD.htm
Would appreciate any comments or experience you might have with that model bike.
I have also considered the Rockrider 8.1 (my local Decathlon doesn't have any stock yet) and the Cube Aim.
The bike will mainly be used for trails, woodland and pottering around Sherwood Pines.
Any advice on the three bikes (or any other recommendation) greatfullly received.

Carrera Fury or Voodoo Hoodoo, both have better forks than the rather rubbish Gila's on the Merida and are circa £500.
RR8.1 is very good if you have a local Decathlon (mine is 32 miles away!)

Cheers for that Simon - will give Decathlon another call and see when stock is due in.
Will also look at the Carrera and Voodoo0 -

w.jenkins - cheers for the offer fella, but I've cracked and bought a Specialized hardrock pro (£300.00) so am going to upgrade a few bits on that.
Good luck with your sale - great looking bike0
