On the 23rd August I am cycling from Lancaster to London. I have set myself a maximum limit of 24 hours to complete this. I was wondering if anyone has completed this kind of challenge? Advice would be greatly appreciated, I have tried to think of everything, but I am sure I will have missed the bleeding obvious!

Thanks in advance

Best place for info might be audax forums. Such folk regularly cycle several hundred kilometres pretty much non-stop.

There's the sportives and audax branch here or over on YACF.

What sort of training rides have you been doing and what's your longest ride to date?

  • Thank you pal,

I have ridden 158 miles as my max currently and I felt good, this is 251 miles.

My training is varied and I regularly ride 70 + at the weekends. During the week my time is taken up with gym work and running. I hope I have the base to be able to push through.

Not much time to really make a big difference, but if it were me I'd put the gym and running on hold and concentrate on getting a couple of big rides in in the coming week and a bit - maybe a 200 mile ride cos then all you need to do on the 23rd is a measly 51 miles extra
