Ideas for a target event once i'm back on my bike?

After having a fairly large accident on the bike, breaking my pride, my left hip socket, 3x vertabrae in my back and a few ribs, i'm slowly recovering and thinking of a 'target event' for spring time next year to help me concentrate on getting my cycling back underway.

I was thinking of trying something like the london to paris charity ride as a target, but it seems a bit common. I don't have a clue where to start looking on the internet. I'd prefer something that has a flavour of overseas riding, but nothing that lasts more than say, 5 days.

I'm ignoring the cost of the trip, as i had a lengthy stay in hospital and my health insurance payout is covering a new bike and the trip.

So, has anyone got any ideas on events, or just websites to go and see what's out there?

Many thanks.

I hear of Nottingham-Monaco unsupported through my work place but am unsure if it is a 'public' event or just for employees. Circa 1000 miles, through the Swiss Alps on behalf of Help4Heroes. If you want more information send me a PM. Sometime in August if it makes a difference.

If you are in your 30's then spring is on.
I had similar plans, but am finding that one heals a bit slower over 50. A 50 miler is still a bit beyond me at present.

How about a hotel near palma airpot, then you can ride the south coast cycle track and dodge the city traffic while stopping for cake, or explore the great country roads depending on how well you have healed.

I'm in my early 20s! I dunno what i want to do tbh. I've just started walking again, so a couple more physio sessions, and i'll get back on the bike! Definately need something to aim for, otherwise i can see myself staying in if the weather is a little poor over the winter.
