Having just ridden Golspie and Learnie at the weekend, this having sampled most of the scottish trails I was keen to get peoples thoughts on who has ridden where and how you rate them, also to get pointers for any I have missed which are well worth it!
So far I have been to the following, but Inners is still my favourite
Golspie
Learnie
Laggan
Fort William (DH and Red)
Carron Valley
Glentress
Inners
Mabie
Dalbeattie
Kirroughtree
AE
Glentrool (with the wife)
Aberfoyle
Drovers Tryst (lochearnehad)
Dumyat
Keen to to both Glentressand Glencoe ..

Mabie is good fun for a quick bike ride. Its also got quite a bit of hidden routes.
Dalbeattie is a good fitness route. Also got some really good hidden natural downhill tracks.
Ae is a bike wrecker. Bumpy and sore on a hardtail. All the hard work is paid off with the downhill at the end.
Try Drumlanrig castle. Very rooty and a couple of technical parts but not to bad.
Only problem is it seems a lot of hard work for no reward ( no big downhill section at the end like most of the 7 Stanes) but its good all the same.
Another you could try is the southern upland way. It allows walkers and bikers.0 -
pass drumlanrig every time we go to Dumfries area so know of it, mate ally rides it all the time, not keen on the roots (or the costs of parking at the castle) but will be sure to go at some point
Had a look at the southern upland way - 212 miles that's a beast, probobly 2 days on a MB? (could easily do it in 2 on the roaddie)
I haveridden most of the Great Glen way in a race and ran the west highland way, def bits on that I will be riding ...0 -
Hi all,
I am just back into biking this year too.
So far I've ridden:
Glentress (Blue/Red/Black) - much prefer the Black despite having a fairly impressive faceplant that ended up with my nose being glued back together. Blue & Red are good fun but a wee bit too manmade for me - be good for the winter though.
Inners Red - loved it but need to go back now I'm a bit fitter (I did it in March having just got a bike in Feb)- the climb killed me so i probably didn't make the most of the great descent. Feels more natural than G'tress
SUW/Lammermuirs - various trails between Lauder/Longformacus area
Pentlands - The 3 Resevoir route that's been in a few of mags is my regular midweek blast. Planning on checking out the run to Nine Mile Burn when it dries up a bit.
I'm also planning on doing the Justice Trail in Jedburgh and a few of the Tweed Valley rides that have been in the mags lately.
Just need to find timeWhen you hear hoofbeats, think of horses, not zebras.0 -
if you're looking for something natural, kilbo path into glendoll forest is brill but there a a bit of hike a bike involved to get to the top and some seriously massive ruts near the start of the forest0
