Cool with intermittent heavy showers...
Had planned to ride to Blackpool (circa 45 miles)
It's soooo cold for August - whilst having breakfast I was watching the cows in the back field and there were huge clouds of condensation from their breath!
I need motivation!

MTFU :roll:0 -
i dont mind the cold - its getting the bike wet and dirty :shock:0

Well, I dont shy away from getting wet - if the weather looks changeable I will happily ride, but if it's pouring down before I even leave the house, then it's a different matter!
For me cycling is more for pleasure than "training", but my Wednesday half day is a rare opportnity to put some decent miles on the clock, and cold / heavy rain make it somewhat un-pleasurable!0 -

Crudracers are your solution! I am pretty much leaving them on my Ribble Gran Fondo permanently. Even today, the bike got in tolerably clean aside from head tube etc. I clean my bike everytime it gets dirty which can be a fair bit of work on a commuter (though if you do keep a clean bike, cleaning it when it does get dirty doesn't tend to take long) but since I put the guards back on I've hardly had to do anything!Faster than a tent.......0 -

I don't get it, either ride or don't, you are there, you know what you like, and don't like, you know what your conditions are like.
The only condition that stops me riding is ice, and then its got to be bad, riding is pleasurable whatever the weather, aslong as you have the right mindset, and the correct kit.0 -
Get out and ride ffs.
Nothings going to happen, apart from your bike and bra may get a bit wet0 -
well i dont know what the weathers like in sunny Bristol mate but its pouring down here.
suppose i could always swim with the bike on my back?0 -
Some of us are not in the position to be off for half a day.
Man up and get on the bike - wait till the winter when its cold and wet and dark...."If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got."

haha ok, ok well I knew deep down I will end up riding - I just wished it was sunny! The roads are dangerous enough without water on them (potholes / cars etc).
I have a waterproof bra, Zoomer, but thanks for the concern ;-) ;-) :P0 -

Tell me about it - I was on the bike in it on the morning commute. Damn good fun. It's only rain, skin's waterproof.
OP -MTFU! Go out and have a laugh and smile at all the drivers who look at you as if you're mad...0 -
Not raining in sunny Wales!
Been busy this morning, but now gonna load up the MTB's, the kids
and the dog into the T4 and take 'em all up to Afan for a pootle around
and a spot of lunch.
Have a nice day in work, y'allIf Wales was flattened out, it'd be bigger than England!

as Dan has said - don't come this way - the winds are at (IMO) "dangerous" level - and certainly way past any sort of "fun" level!0

as just about to check the met office.
The rain is sheeting across the road and it seems pretty windy so I think it's a no-go this afternoon, which is a shame as I stayed in yesterday when it was sunny to save my legs for today :-(
It might settle later on...0
