Literally.

Visited the family seat this afternoon and found a lovely 70's steel Peugeot, ornate lugged with long horizontal dropouts in one of the outbuildings. Tourerish in purple with gold lug detailing. Didn't have the presence of mind to photo and aged P not amount to interrogate. Also a steel Carerra road bike (???) In white (fugly) and a raw alu Giant hardtaill frame. All a foot deep in spider web and obviously not touched in years but dry and free from corrosion (tyres turned to melba toast though)

Will return with trade beads methinks.

What size is the Peugeot? And do you want to sell it, possibly?

    Bingo! Good find :)

Just got my hands on an old Puch bike that was abandoned and needs some TLC. Good excuse for me to retreat to the shed...

Many older Giants used "bare" (laquered) ally frames, I've had 2.

Early Carreras (pre-Halfords) are wonderful frames.

Is it old Peugeots that have a reputation for using lots of odd standards and funny-sized parts?

I'm sure it was one of the french brands.

Early Carrera frame - note the lettering and association with Marco Pantani and carrera Jeans.

I would lookinto the age of it.

A work colleague has an SS based on an old Pug frame, stuck with the steel 24mm seatpost as getting an ally one is a PITA, just one example of the fun and games it presents!
