Hi all

I'm trying to replace a spoke (Mavic XM819 on Hope Pro II) and an estimation with a 2 cross pattern gave me 252mm which is just too short to enter the nipple (!!) (I used - http://www.prowheelbuilder.com/spokelengthcalculator/)

Trying a 3 cross pattern gives me 8 more mm but I can only see 2 spoke crosses on the wheel

I'm sure this is stupid noob question but WTF?

Thanks
DaveK

Is there a small 'cross' right next to the spoke elbow as it exits the hub flange? Many miss this one.

Make sure you put in the number of spokes too ;-)

So I actually need an average of 161mm (range something like 160.7 to 162.3) - is it best to go 1mm shorter or longer?

what length nipples are you going to use?

    I generally go shorter.

Mmm and 261 is not the average.

    258-260 for a front 32 spokes

    259 for the rear.

and 256ish for as 36 spoke build 255/256 ish

    Program...

Front and rear seem to give similar results, which is sending up a little red flag I admit!

similar lengths front and rear is not odd, in fact it is quite common. but what is odd is your 261mm

on a front I get results

    Left spoke length: 258.3

    Right spoke length: 260.1
