Hiya,
I'm a beginner who rides with other mtbers who are much better than me :( , so I've decided that I'm going to have a bit of training to give me a bit of a boost and hopefully stop me crashing in ridiculous places quite so much!
I'll be in the UK in September and wondered if anyone could suggest a good instructor or course - I'll be around Lancaster and also the Fylde coast but I can travel a bit!
Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi Victoria, I strongly recommend Campbell Coaching based in N. Wales (not too big a drive from Lancashire). They do really good bespoke 1:1 sessions. I had a full day with Ally, she was really supportive and encouraging as well as being an excellent coach. I improved hugely after the day. Felt loads more confident and have a CD full of video clips of me doing things right and wrong as well as really constructive demos by Ally!
Check out their website and blog... www.campbellcoaching.eu

    Good luck :D
  • That's great - thanks for all the suggestions - I'll have a look at them all and report back once I've been turned into a proper mountain biker!

One futher one to try is Anthony O'Connor at trailmotions.co.uk (based near Lancaster) .I've done a course with him (and he's a trail builder ) and also been on one of Ed Oxleys courses (Great Rock). Both were good and getting my positionning on the bike has made a huge difference to my riding
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
    Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result

Im doing a course with Ed Oxley in 2 weeks at Gisburn forest, have a look on his web site, lots of courses aimed at different level of rider and he will do one to one coaching.
Finished, Check out my custom Giant Reign 2010
    Dirt Jumper Dmr Sidekick2
  • Thanks for all the suggestions! I ended up doing the Level 1 & 2 Stop Crashing course with Ed Oxley (Great Rock) which was brilliant.
Gisburn was a totally different terrain from what I am used to riding which I really enjoyed and Ed's coaching was suberb - my riding has improved a lot just from the 2 days and I have loads of techniques and tips to work on now.
He was very patient and I've come away with loads more confidence and once I've put everything into practise and improved a bit more I'm planning on going back to do the flow course!
