Back from hols. What's happened?

Should I watch any of the Tour of Poland which I recorded?

Any new forum loons?

HTC officially declared that they were going to dissolve at the end of the season.

    I noticed your absence.

We decided that the organisation of the olympic test run on Sunday is already rubbish.

I won the Poland PTP - which is definately the biggest news on the forum.

Also, tour of poland was actually quite decent, very close and a nail biting finish.

Other than that, the usual transfer rumour-mill, not alot really!

The Poles are a bit too partial to a circuit.

Katowice and other cities featured in the tour make Luton appear idyllic.

Skil Shimano have a sprinter called Kittel who's quite fast!

What happened? You missed the Armstrong confession, the Cavendish retirement and the Ullrich comeback! Looks like you picked the wrong week to go on holiday!

Iain will have to confirm the context of "Loons". If he was indeed talking of people with a screw loose, you're correct, however In NE Scotland a Loon is a term used to describe "younger blokes". ie. "Tam's loon is a f'in heedcase"..

    Didn't miss much.

Almost true. Ullrich is to ride the Oeztaler Radmarathon on 28 August for charity.

Depending on your sense of humour, there is thread on Crudcatcher, still running after 18 pages, about (roughly) motorised cycling. Shades of Speed-King, et al.

As I say, if you enjoy bear baiting you will enjoy this.

N.B. No bears were harmed in the progressing of this thread, to my knowledge.

Takes me back to all those programmes on Grampian tv like Bothy Nichts where I picked up terms such as loons and quines, and scaffies. ps isn't it 'heidcase'[img][/img]

Yup, apparently the Basque nation and the Welsh have a Special Understanding, what with both being misunderstood nations.

    Or something like that..............

  • Oh and there was that whole timing chip thing from the Tour. Turns out the race refs got them a bit mixed up, put them on the wrong bikes, got their maths a bit wrong and it now looks like Ivan Basso won and not Cadel Evans! Their still checking their sums mind, final, final result will be out real soon...

Poland was rubbish for the first couple of stages but the last stage was quite good. Kittel looks an excellent sprinter (I know how much you like a good bunch sprint) but he could just be one of those sprinters that show up every year and look good until they take on the very best.

For new loons, take a look on beginners at Thebigbee, made an arse of himself in a thread about where to store tubs and rather than hold his hands up just kept digging in the same mould as Speed King and the other greats.

And what's Frank Lampard doing without Christine Bleakely?
