Cycling home from work this evening and I got knocked off my bike.

Basically I came to a traffic light crossing with comes off the dual carriage way which is a 60 and about 100 meters around the left hand turn from the roundabout there is the crossing which also merges from a two lane into 1 lane after the crossing.

The lights were on red so I coasted across from right to left to the middle island with one foot unclipped and hands on the brakes as always just in case.

Quick check again and the lights still on red so I continue from the middle to the left hand side of the road, cars come along the road to the lights and starts to slow down so I know the lights are still red as the traffic in the lane next to her is also slowing down. Next thing I know BANG! I get hit on the left side and get knocked down, It was roughly a 10mph crash but it still bloody hurt.

The traffic in the far left lane did not move for some reason, even though this car did.

I eventually get up and dust myself off. Traffic in the far left lane then starts to move. The car that hit me which was driven by a female in her early 20's winds the window down and says "Are you OK?" I reply "Yeah I think so". I proceed to move myself and the bike out of the road, at this point she moves forward towards me and asks again "Are you alright" which again I reply "Think so but my knee hurts". She then winds the window up and drives off!

Unfortunetly I did not get the reg No due to being in shock and still composing myself. I know the make/model/colour etc. The rest of the traffic then continues as though nothing has happened.

A couple of cyclists who just arrived see I have been hit and make sure I am ok and try to calm me down a bit.

I have rang the police and I have to pop into the station tomorrow to make a statement. Think I might pop into A&E just to make sure I am because my knee is still sore and a little grazed. The bike on the other hand is a write off and to add insult to injury I had to walk the remaining 2 miles home with the bike.

Where do I stand? Has anyone else had any experiences like this?

I am furious and honestly just want to sit here and cry a bit due to the pain/anger, What should I do with the bike?

Any help would be greatly appreciated because I have no idea what to do and I am totally confused.

look at any cctv in the area, she has committed a offence by driving off

Bit late for you OP but that's a classic case of what not say - 'yeah I'm ok' and let her go. In the heat of the moment it's easy to forget but as a bare minimum you have to get the driver's details, precisely for how it's turned out - more pain than anticipated and a wrecked bike. Play badly injured / shocked / winded for a couple of minutes whilst you gather your thoughts. Make sure the other party stops. Easy to easy, quite easy to do actually.

I had a similar event last week; woman reversed over me & the bike (no damage, leapt clear, she stopped). Thanks to that thread I recalled that details & witnesses are your priority. It was worth it. Everyone should read the What To Do In An Accident thread and commit it to memory.

    Good luck with it anyway.

    Thanks all,

Just go back from A&E with badly damaged ligaments and pending X-ray results in the morning.

Just found out the bus has forward and rear facing cameras so that should help me identify the car.

I am also going to go back tomorrow evening around the same time for an hour or so to see if I can see her go past. Then I can make a note of the reg. It is a long sho but every avenue is worth trying to bring the person to justice.
