Road tube in a mtb tyre?
Hello,
I was just thinking about some other posts about how when people have a puncture we help each other out.
I ride a road bike, and only take a spare tube with me rather than a repair kit. If I saw a mtb stopped with a puncture and he needed a hand, would my road innertube do to get him home?

only if he was on a 29er.....with skinny tyres....
I personally would not give my 'only' tube away to anyone, if I had any distance to ride myself...charity begins at home...0 -
In an emergency you certainly could just to get home even with a 26". If the difference in tyre width is great you might be taking a chance with over stretching the skinny road tube and having it blow but if that's your only option it's worth a try and using low pressure (less than say 40psi) probably won't damage the tyre if it blows. Personally I would have to know the other rider is really in dire straits before giving up my own backup tube.0

I would worry a lot less about giving up my inner for an MTB esp if they are running disc brakes, you can happily buckle or knock an MTB wheel out of true and keep going, road bikes and rim brakes are a different deal. I would find it hard to believe that a 23c road inner would support the current trend in 2.2in wide MTB tyres - although I go my onw way with a 1.8in on the back very old skool! besides have you never heard of skabs and such like?0
