    Helicopter tape.

Or if it's already scratched to hell like mine, I use leather Lizard Skins patches.

I agree, I also have a specialized and it's the only bike i've had that's had this much of a cable rub problem! I tried duct tape as a quick fix but this only lasted a ride so will have to try some frame savers, otherwise I will not have a frame left to ride on. :(
I have never been lost but I do admit to being confused for several weeks!

  • I just bought 5cmx100cm of coptor tape (the thick stuff, not the shitty selotap you find some places) for a fiver from ebay.

More than enough to cover a toptube, headtube and chainstays.

My recently purchased enduro expert evo is down the the frame and forks in multiple places. Not impressed after only 50 miles.

They should make bikes out of cable outer.

or perhaps just some how put what the cable housing is made out of on the points where it scrubs.

Defo helicopter tape! Have it all over my bike. I have a huge roll of it in the garage but see nothing wrong with the ebay stuff!

    Cable rub does suck!

I've bought biketape in the past and so far it's doing a good job:

I bought frame wrap from them, brilliant stuff for chainstay, far better than a standard protector IMO.

I have just got a Specialised Tricross and this has clear patches already on it.
I've just got some Jagwire tube tops for my Kinesis xc130, not tried them yet so can't comment on how good they are but my mate has some on his Merida 96 carbon and says they are o.k
I had a bad experience with helicopter tape, it took the paint of my frame when removed so i stay well clear, don't know if it was the tape or the frame as kinesis/biketart haven't got back to me yet, but Biketart got me a new frame and said they will get the money back from Kinesis if they were at fault.

I think the solution has to be wireless brakes and gears.

I ordered 4m of the stuff, got it all down the swingarm, top tube, down tube and some smaller bits anywhere there might be cable rub, magic stuff. It can be tricky to apply though, if you're doing large areas, it's best to cut it to size, remove completely from the backing, dunk in soapy water, get in place, squeegee water out with a credit card or similar, and then use a hairdryer to get the edges properly stuck down.
