What size Road Shoe?

Looking for my first set of road shoes/spd pedals, I've ordered a set of Shimano R540 SPD-SL Pedals, and looking at ordering a pair of R077 shoes online.
I've heard they're made pretty small. I'm normally a size 11 shoe, so should a size 46 fit, or will I need to go up to a 47?

Usually you need to get a size bigger than normal, although I don't know about Shimanos. I'm usually a size 11 (46) but ended up getting a pair of size 48s! If you can you should order 2 sizes and send one pair back. Bear in mind, too, that cycling shoes should be a snugger fit than regular shoes.0

I buy the same size in cycling shoes as my normal shoes and I'm currently wearing Sidi Genius 5 Pro which feel amazing.
The buy a size up thing isn't gospel.0 -
Your best bet is to try a pair on. I got a pair of Shimano's recently and knew that I would need 11.5 as I have weird feet :P My work PPE is 11 but a pair of adidas trainers I had were 13
I can cheat though,I live 20mins away from Chain Reaction so I can try on anything I'm not sure about0 -
to find what's right for *your* feet, the best way is to try a few different shoes on before deciding
it's not just about size, fit varies a lot between different brands/models, i find a huge difference in fit between sidi and specialized for instance
fwiw, for me the +1 size is wrong, i take the same size road shoe as normal shoes, but i need extra arch support, it really does depend on individual characteristicsmy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -

I have the same shoes and had to get 2 sizes bigger than normal. And I have a Wilier, too. Spooky0 -
Thanks for the replies. I went into Edinburgh Bikes today and looks like I need a 47. Will order online though, as they're so expensive.0

did you ask the shop whether they're able to pricematch? No? OK.0

Good point! Didn't think of that. However, they don't stock the R077's. I actually tried on the R063's along with some Specialized shoes.0
