Got a new toy to build up not sure on the spec yet as not in a rush to get it built, plus it needs some new bearings and will send the shock away for a service and new spring.
Also going to strip the paint off, not sure if will leave it raw or get it resprayed yet.
Before any work is done
Stripped down to take paint off
Front triangle now stripped

How did you strip the paint? Also I thought in the UK Banshee were called Mythic?, like my Spitfire I'm building.0
-
Stripped it with nitromors which made easy work of the paint, the only tricky bit was by the BB.
Yeah banshee are known as Mythic in the UK, this is a 2004 frame which was brought over from Canada2008 Kona Dawg Deluxe http://s1187.photobucket.com/albums/z39 ... luxe%2008/

I take it you're not planning to do any pedalling on this. Look like it weighs a ton! Shouldn't have any strength issues though.
What model is it's equivalent in the current range? The Legend or Rune or something else?0 -
The only ones to come close are the scythe and the legend, but then thats really only on travel thet dont really build like this anymore.
Could try to pedal but would'nt get to far as even on a light build using single crowns, would still come in at about 36-38lbs.
This be running twin crowns so will be a little heavier, was built by banshee for the Freeride scene. You can run 6-7 or 8 travel out back and 3 choices for wheelbase length.
When you bought new the frame came with a ten year guarantee they were so confident in the strength of the frame.
A guy called Josh Bender used to attempt 50 - 60ft drops on these.2008 Kona Dawg Deluxe http://s1187.photobucket.com/albums/z39 ... luxe%2008/

rad!!
i gotta say tho, i prefer the newer banshee bikes(mythic), but this is still very nice.
what colours are you thinking of getting it done? or you gonna leave it raw?
i think what will look very nice is raw frame, purple decals and ano purple parts. just my opinion tho0 -
Be interesting to see how this builds up. Do you have plenty of terrain to take advantage of the frame where you are?
My build has to be able to be fun on fairly flat trails as well as slay the trail centres, mountains and bike parka when I can get there.0 -
I am thinking of leaving it raw as i had a Morphine which i had stripped too which looked awesome.
I might even polish the fork lowers when i get a set, but not sure on that yet.
Was thinking of orange and white if i paint it or maybe camoflauge even i can work out a decent pattern.2008 Kona Dawg Deluxe http://s1187.photobucket.com/albums/z39 ... luxe%2008/

I think Raw is a good call. A lot of the new Mythic frames come in raw now. I think I'll make mine raw some day but not yet as the paints still good. You'll have to lacquer it or perhaps clear copter tape it though to protect it somewhat.
Looking forward to seeing this.0 -
Beast get building more pics!!!!
And i have to admit the black was awesome, go for a matt stealth build mate!!0 -
it is going to take a bit of time to build up, cash flow as always, but frame nearly finished and bearing kit on order.
Will be going for a superstar wheelset £280 all in and handbuilt, wont sa what colour yet thats a surprise.
have headset ready to go that will be fittted in the next couple of days.2008 Kona Dawg Deluxe http://s1187.photobucket.com/albums/z39 ... luxe%2008/

Nice, I'm running a superstar switch evo on superstar DH595 wheelset on my patriot, only just got the front wheel on it, but the rear has held up pretty well over the last 4-5 months of my sketchy downhill riding.0

Headset has finally turned up

What size is that Headset? Must be 1.5 on a bike like that surely? What's the rest of the plans? Or is it gonna be a drip-fed thread to build anticipation?0
-
Headset is a 1 1/8th,but as the headtube is 10mm thick its plenty strong enough.
Not going to be a quick build due to work, money etc.
Will hopefully look a little like this
this is how the Morphine i had turned out

That looks really cool, hope it comes out as planned then.0
-
That morphine was really tasteful looking. The amount of metal on those frames is mental though! A 10mm thick headtube?! To be fair though, you don't see them breaking very often!0
-
The morphine was cool, took anything i could throw at it.
The amount of metal is obsence.2008 Kona Dawg Deluxe http://s1187.photobucket.com/albums/z39 ... luxe%2008/
