Been reading up on microshift groupsets in particular for cycle cross use. Just wondering if anybody uses them or has any experience on this manufacturer. On the surface the groupset seems good value and looks good in white but are they any good?

Microshift stuff works fine. Moving a chain up and down cogs is hardly rocket science, is it? Whether you can deal psychologically with bike snobs like Hals is another matter.

hmmmm I gave up worrying what others thought when I saw a rider with one leg on a old mountain bike pass a few carbon bike pushers up a climb ...

The reviews ive seen seem to suggest its itched around 105 and thats great for me as I loved my tiagra on my scott.

I have 105 on my Boardman, Ultegra on my Cervelo and MicroSHIFT on my FM028 and I'm happy with them all.

My MicroSHIFT is better than I expected, cheaper than 105, lighter than Ultegra, looks great and shifts just fine.

I'll be riding my MicroSHIFT equipped FM028 for today's Century. As for my Oakley's, threre impressive too but like a lot of "must have" brands they're not worth the extra money. Today I'll be wearing my Giros 8)

Name snobs (some will argue I'm one too) my MicroSHIFT Arsis was faultless over my 113miles. Should I be frivolous enough to buy another bike I may well go for MicroSHIFT again. It's more than a bargain as the quality is on par with my experiences with Shimano and SRAM :D
  • Is this stuff compatible with Shimano/Sram?

    from my usage of it:
front mech - good (cant really go wrong)
    rear mech - awful
    shifters - awful

swapped rear mech and shifters for some 105 and much happier.

Umm, who fitted your MicroSHIFT? Below is basd on having cable changed to thinner ones.

Front mech - mine needs a tweek
    Rear mech - excellent
shifters - excellent and now I'm used to it I prefer the mechanics to my Shimano

cytech level 3 mechanic who works on all my bikes, built my 695, my aeron TR, rebuilt my caad5 when i wrote it off in an accident.

also had a head mechanic at another store look at it when i was passing and we couldnt get the rear mech to shift properly either.

cables were changed 3 or 4 times.

shifters were based on the fact that shifting didnt work properly, coupled with them being uncomfortable and the buttons being weird.

Not sure about SRAM but yes to Shimano/FSA. I'm running a Shimano rear cassette and a FSA crank with my MicroSHIFT.

Well I'm at a loss. As I said I'm running 105 on my Boardman, Ultegra and MicroSHIFT on my FM028 and wouldn't continue with my Arsis if it wasn't doing the job :?

if you like it and it works for you then stick at it.

i wanted it on my CX as its cheaper when anything breaks. Id happily have continued using the rear mech with some 105 shifters as that was what i missed the most from my shimano groupsets if it had worked.

I have dura ace on my 695, 105/ultegra mix on my aeron, and 105 on my CX.

Microshift wont work with sram mechs as the pull ratio is the same as shimano and not the 1:1 ratio that sram use.
