Hi all

Sorry to start another thread - i have searched and could really do with some advice

Will keep it as brief as possible

Bike - Cannondale Caad8
Wheels - Maddux DRX 4000 - dont know alot about these but get the feeling they are below average
Me - 6ft 3 15.5 stone
Riding habbits - 40-60miles a couple of times a week, with the odd 100 miler.

want new wheels for 2 reasons
1- heard they would be the best upgrade and assuming mine are below average. heard good storeys about the difference they make.
2-in 18 months had 3 broken spokes in the back wheel, and am told it is normal on this type of wheel to expect to have to true it every 6 months on my mileage(!) - therofre always a worry when going long distances that I will break down,

Want - wheels which will give me an improved performance, climbing and general speed, robust enough to not keep breaking (15.5 stome, pott holes in Cheshire!)
Budget £350 but would go up if someone has great experience of something a bit more....

Really appreciate any advice, as will probably be getting in the next couple of weeks, so will give all an update on any improvements.

Cheers :D

By the way, anyone know anything about the Maddux wheels on my bike at the mo ?

Would the Mavics, and Shimano RS80 wheels make a big difference in your opinion?

Shimano RS80 are £330 at merlin.

They use the same rim as the dura ace model the only difference is the hubs. Ultegra hubs in the RS80's

How about some Fulcrum Racing 3 Ive seen them around your price range, Merlin I think, I have just put the Racing 5's on my Allez and its made a vast improvement to the bike they are stiff light and fast rolling can't fault them, about to do a 60 miler so will know more then. So the next ones up the racing 3s will be superb.
Of course its about the bike! Although having the legs helps.

    RS80s

At 330 they take some beating IMO, for performance.

mmmm extremely tempting - will come in at under £300 if I join the VIP club, starting to sound like a bargain...
