I currently run a 1x9 set up on a 11-34t sram PG990 which i must say is pretty good, but i have been running it over a year and i'm pretty sure its going to be wearing out soon.
So i Have my birthday coming up and i'm going to treat myself to a new rear cassette and shifter.
11-36 makes more sense on my 29er, so who uses what? whats the best combo?

Yeah I forgot to write rear mech but I was thinking it
So what combo ?0 -
What budget?0

well not quite XX but i dont mind spending to get quality?
XT or Sram or?
never owned Sram shifters or mech's ? dont worry not going downn the what S is better route0 -
I'd be looking at XT shifters, XT cassette. Mechs make little difference, SLX will be fine. SRAM chain.0

yeah i was thinking XT, but last time i bought a cassette everyone said the PG990 is better value? but they dont do it in a 11-36 as far as i'm aware?
Sram chains are a must though.
Right time to start pricing i guess?0 -

KMC chains are good, when i kept breaking chains on my Genius it was the only make that didnt break? (i did work out it was down to how i was cleaning them)
not sure i like sram shifters though?0 -
10 speed SRAM and SHIMANO feel a little different from their predecesors. Shimano seem a little snappier when you change, SRAM a little softer. Except the change to smaller cogs, SRAM still has a big crack to it.
