That's the very reason I couldn't contemplate working from home. I'd be forever sneaking out to the garage or nipping out on the bike. I'd be sacked within a fortnight.

Mind you, if they noticed how much time I spend on here.....
  • I work from home as well, and it is always tempting. I struggle.

But I make money,so have to have the priorities right :(
  • I was v good and didn't ride till 5.30 :-)

Been working from home for the last 15 years, wouldn't have it any other way, but you do have to be disciplined. But it does mean I can go and ride anytime, which is nice .....

+1. Sadly the weather often makes up my mind for me :-(

i told work that instead of me having another week on the sick and having my pay dropped to half pay, i'll work from home the other week. (Was my choice as i didn't want the salary drop)

Went into work for a quick meeting, pick up my laptop, few documents, was set to work at home.

Got home and i had zero motivation to work at all. Think i managed about 45 minutes a day.

Cue me going into work the next week part time, but back on full pay.

There is no chance i have enough motivation to work at home. Especially when it's sunny.

Did it for a few years, twice a week. Never got tempted to go out as someone could easily phone but if things were quiet the PS3 (or Eurosport at certain times of year) were very tempting. I've given up now as the internet access was just too slow and I would only do about half of what I could in the office as I waited for documents to open off the server.

I work from home 3 days a week.

Like Pross though I resist the temptation to go out, mainly because the one day I did leave the house for several hours something urgent came up while I was stuck in traffic on the motorway.
  • Another work from home merchant here - I would say 50% of the company work from home (big company with 100k plus employees globally) - this means that the culture of the company has become incredibly structured with everything being blocked out in calendars for weeks in advance even for the simplest of chats. This gives the required structure for working from home, and I try to build my riding around gaps in my schedule - it helps having a boss in California as I have occasional meetings in the evenings, so feel no guilt popping out for a few hours weather permitting.

I have no issues, but then I've been working from home for years. I say working from home, I'm in sales, so most days I'm out at customers for most of the day. On the days when I'm at home, I have enough to do to keep me occupied. If I decided to watch tv, switch on the PS3 or go out on my bike, I'd end up having to pick up the slack in the evening.

The bonus, is that without commuting time, it's easy to fit in a couple of hours on the bike in the evening, and still be home in time to relax.

  • WFH again today - I also have been doing this for years. Works well for me, I can fit alot more in. And usually fine with the discipline - I work flexibly anyway and it all pans out in the end.

At the mo I am writing a massive EU £ bid for a mullti-national environmental improvement project. It gets intense so you need a while away from it to let it all settle in your head - riding time! Genuinely helps as I mull my project structure while out & about.

Will run later today as I did a full day ride yesterday with friends, on my commuter with panniers stuffed with picnic. It peed with sustained torrential rain 3 times. We got so wet we swam in the Thames to dry off. Great day but more than a bit mad. No stiffness but slightly fatigued legs today.
