hurty wrist

About 3 weeks back I was out on the bike and came off straight over the bars into a nice patch of nettles. I wasn't overly hurt so just carried on. The next day a huge bruise began appearing on my thigh, and my wrist was aching. Now, the pain isn't too bad, it's just a nagging achey type pain but I'd have thought it would have gone by now.

I have since stopped fiddling with mr winkey to give my wrist chance to recover, but alas the dull ache persists, especially when I do a wrist rotation. Do you think it needs amputating?

In all seriousness though, is it normal to hurt for 3 weeks? It seems a little excessive.

Did the wrist bend much on impact? Could be a tendon / ligament strain.

Maybe see a quack if you don't see any improvement?

But has it stopped you touching those children?

If it still hurts after 3 weeks it means that the little baby Jebus wants you to feel pain

    Yes sheepsteeth,

A member on this forum most certainly did make an inference about my character that caused me a great deal of distress.
Call me what you will , but that particular member on this form was inferring that i am a person who engages in utterly repugnant activity, furthermore activity i personally find utterly repugnant, is greatly distressing.

This member expressed views that simply cannot be undone; views that even if retracted by an apology cannot reverse the ugly smear brought to bear on my character; views that have caused me a tremendous amount of distress.

From this point forwards, the situation has changed.

I'm hurt, wounded and demoralised...I was turned down at the local school.

**Serious answer warning - those of a nervous disposition avert your eyes**

I had an OTB on the first May bank holiday and still have a bit of pain depending on what I'm doing. Actually I had a drunken falling over incident last October where I twisted my ankle and thats still giving me jip.

Probably ligament damage which can take a good few weeks to heal.

  • Did the same to my wrist about 4 weeks ago and am still suffering.

Doc said it was most likely to be ligament damage as an x-ray showed no breaks. He said recovery time was likely to be 6 weeks if rested properly.

Looks like you may have to go lefty for a while

At my age, and rubbish riding ability, I always have pain somewhere. Unless there is lots of blood or something dangling off I just ignore it.

Hell, even at my age. No, scratch that, since about the age I started mountain biking, I've been in the same situation. Something always hurts.

My fingers are still giving me grief, I done something bad to them on a dry ski slope in, erm... February I think.
Been told there's not a lot that can be done to them.

Can't believe I actually got a few real answers in the CC! Lefty it is then i'm afraid people. I can't go on neglecting mr willy winky like this.

Oh, and yeehaa, you're one of those rare few who actually rides his bike aren't you though? No wonder you're injured!

When you don't play with my winkey, you'll always get a dull ache, and mr winkey might not appreciate a 'rotation' move being pulled on him.

I think he does need amputating.....

It is quite possible that you've overextended the wrist joint and torn some ligaments/cartilage.

I'd go see a decent sports physio in the first instance, as your GP will just give you NSAIDs (the good type of AIDs) and tell you to jog on. The physio should be able to tell you if they can fix it, or whether it needs to be amputated....

In all seriousness I tore some cartilage in my left wrist four years ago taking a beating in a stopper in the Alps and only got it semi-sorted a year ago through seeing a consultant. Apparently if I'd got it looked at sooner, I wouldn't have needed surgery like I do now.
