    Curious, Bails.
My wolf ridge, which in principle is a very similar suspension setup reacts nice and solidly in the middle ring, but when I'm hammering the granny (oo-er), there is a strange sensation that there is too much anti-squat. It doesn;t manifest itself as kickback, more a kind of strange rocking - and although your rubber band analogy doesn't quite match, I think I know exactly what you're trying to describe.

On mine it only happens in the granny though, and the bike has been optimised around a roughly middl-ish sized ring (the newer hammerschmidt attack trail had the links reworked to optimise for that smaller chainring).
Maybe the action on the 146 has been optimised for a different sized chainring to mine.

Anyway, long term, the granny ring feeling hasn't proven to be a problem at all, and on loose trails it actually feels like the rear wheel is actively burying or planting itself into the ground.

You'd hope the suspension would be optimised for the 34t ring, seeing as that's the only chainring it's got!

Maybe it's just because I'm used to hardtails, but in terms of full sus I've also ridden Lawmans Mojo(briefly), a Zesty and X Control and a Scott Spark and Genius and I'd never really noticed it on any of those. I noticed bob on the Lappierres, and the Genius was just rubbish, it was just this feeling of not bobbing, but power being soaked up by something that was strange.

It could be that on a HT all my effort is going to the back wheel, but the back wheel is bouncing around and losing traction, and wasting 20% of what I put in, whereas with this I'm losing 20% of my effort due to the suspension, but everything that gets to the back wheel goes into moving the bike forwards because it's keeping traction better. You know, just a different feel type of thing rather than being better or worse. It was still a good bike, and I enjoyed it more than all the others I've ridden, apart from maybe the Spark, but that's just because it went like sh1t off a shovel, it's obviously a very different type of bike though.

It could just be a feeling, like you say, or another thought I've just had is that it might just be the feeling of the rear suss tracking the terrain, since it's not overtly noticeable on mine on a smooth surface, curiously enough.

Anwyay, you're still a jammy bugger for having a blast on one!

Bored at work looking wistfully out of the window at the sunny day, especially as last nights rain would have settled down the trails nicely today...

If she's hot that dream could have been so full of win that it's not even true. I had a dream about a friend recently, it was massively inappropriate and I loved it. :D

That's why I said COULD have been awesome. It had so much of the right ingredients to be a great sex dream. The photo albums just spoilt it all. :( I don't even care to look through my own wedding photos, never mind someone elses.

So my plan is to give up smoking for good, and get out on the mountain bike to wherever it takes me.

Sounds like you need a spare set of forks, one for riding and one for spare. Or another bike.
