howitzer bb creaking

My howitzer bb is creaking when pedalling. There's no side to side play, it just creaks when pressure is applied through the pedals. I've greased the pedals up so I'm pretty sure it's not them. The question is can anything be done (servicing) to stop the creak or is a new replacement bb needed?

    strip and add more grease.

    Parktools :?:SheldonBrown
  • So it's serviceable then? I can get at the bearings once it's removed? I'm assuming that's where the grease needs to be? Ive never touched a bb before, sorry if those are daft questions

ish. if you have the tools.

  • Could you give me quick step by step run through of what's involved please? The cranks feel solid with no side to side movement. If I can get rid of this irritating creaking without buying a new bb that would be great.
