We don't get cycling tans here in Scotland, it's looks the same but it's actually rust.

I have. I came out of the showers after a game of squash the other week & a bloke eyed me up & down and asked if I'd had some new arms & legs attached. What a card eh? How we larfed...

I've got good sharp lines on my arms and the top of my knees, but the calves and back of my legs are still fairly white...which is a pain!

Maybe I should put fake tan on until they tan over properly?

The obvious solution then is to go sunbathing in just arm and leg warmers. No pictures, please.

It's the quick and easy way to get them tucked under shorts & jersey. But yes, mirrors to be avoided during the process.

How about starting the season with a cyclist's tan here... http://burgauvilla.com/

You could find time to fill in the blank bits too. You could be the envy of all but you may have to wait a few months for the British weather to improve enough to show your brown legs and arms off. Mind you there's always the gym or swimming pool. 8)
  • Presumably everyone saw, and giggled at, the sight of Jelle Vanendert's helmet tan lines on the podium when he won his tdf stage this year?

Thanks the new benchmark for me.
  • I had helmet horns last year after some long rides in the stunning sunshine we had, it's a devilish look to pull off but scares little children, which is always fun.
  • I've got a bit of major cyclists tan. Not amazing looking.
  • You can only claim a riders tan when the lines are still evident AFTER winter.

That is proof you were out riding last year

In the Highlands we have our own form of this cyclist's tan phenomenon. Up here exposed limbs turn a fetching colour of blue for most of the year.

Anyone local who's skin has gone an odd brown colour must have been spending money on holidays which would have been better used on a Dura-Ace upgrade or new wheels.

The missus just looked over my shoulder and actually screamed!!!

As an aside I do have tan lines, which were heartily approved of on my recent holiday in SW France, but I'm not built like Mr Rasmussen more like Jason Leonard!

I ave a great cyclist tan at the moment. But it get worse.
The top parts of my thigh is also tanned because of playing footbal over summer. football socks masking my shins. It does look freaky.

Espicially as the rest of my body is pasty pasty white... I am the anti adonis!

Being horribly pale and nordic, I dont tan, I just burn, so I dont have cyclist tan lines.

I do, however, still have significant cyclists sunburn lines from a very hot Sunday about 6 weeks ago when I didnt put suncream on.

Yep, cyclist tan here. It looks a bit daft, but I was sunbathing next to an Alpine lake the other week and there was the odd knowing smile from the locals. Strategically placed tan lines, 6ft, 150lbs, big quads... the locals know the score.

I'd get beaten to a pulp on Blackpool beach. For being a weed with a t shirt suntan!

My tan stops where my gloves started,it looks like I applied fake tan with a paintbrush and masking tape.
