Looking at my front wheel the other day I notice that the tyre was 6-7mm closer to the left of the fork?? (Mavic 717 rims on DT Swiss 370 hubs).

So ive checked axle - no play.

Took off tyre (R Ralph) and found the wheel is still not central to the fork but its only about 2-3mm now, although I am not sure my method of measuring was accurate.

Rim is straight wheen wheel spins w/o tyre

Any ideas wht the prob is and how should I check (method).

Thanks

There isn't a cause if it's never been touched - it must have been out from the start - or you've bent something.

    Wheel dish or bent fork.

You can prove one or the other by putting the wheel on the wrong way round. If the smaller gap switches sides then it is the wheel. If not, then it is the fork.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.
