I,m in the market for a computer and would prefer an all wireless unit with HR and Cadence. I,ve thought about the Garmin with GPS function but in all honesty i would never need the GPS functions so it would be a waste of money. I,m not bothered about price, i just want a good reliable unit for my new stuffed with chinese newspapers Chinarello  . Please hurry with your recommendations as my Chinarello could break catastrophically any minute.I want to enjoy every moment on my new Chinarello while i still can

get the Garmin. You'll soon get into the GPS thing

It is worth it actually - I have a Bryton 35. It isn't so much about the GPS stuff as the ability to download all the information and spend many happy nerdy hours analysing the data!

I'd say just go for a Garmin. If you're not bothered about the GPS stuff on the bike, then go for the 500 which doesn't include mapping, but will still let you see where you've been. You'll only end up wanting one later anyway, so you might as well just buy it now and be done with it!

If budget allows - get the garmin 500.

Does cadence / HR with added bonus of downloading your routes / data.

  • You can get a Sigma BC 2209 for round about £100.

All the jazz of a Garmin (inc downloading your data) but without the GPS. Received a high score in C+ the other month.

Polar CS500 I highly recommend. Easy to use and displays Speed/cadence/HR and time all on the one screen.
