from mtb to road

after using a mtb on slicks for a couple of months whilst waiting for cycle scheme, my road bike has finally arrived. i took it out for the first time yesterday and what a difference it made!!
a much easier tool on the road, actually more comfortable than my hard tail gary fisher. the 105 gear changes are nice and smooth.
on the down side i found it took less effort to ride. my average speed went up by 2mph to 18.5mph and my heart rate dropped (avg) so i've had to extend my ride slightly. not really a bad thing, but time is money!! lol
i'm on a late shift today, so i'll just wait for the wife and little one to leave and i'll be out on it again
happy days

If the down side is it was less effort try and find some good hills to go up or get your average speed even higher.
We can't have this cycling lark easy now can we?0 -
Welcome to the fold.
Its very addictive. And believe me, road biking can be made just as painfull as mountain biking.0 -
As a wise man once said, the pain should stay the same you should just get quicker.0

Welcome!
So far this year Ive done 140 miles of MTB out of a total of 5350ish miles. Thats how addictive it is, I bought my ride bike last year. Even with the nice weather we are having I would prefer to hit the road at the moment :oops:0 -
lol, i didn't mean to imply road bikes were easy just more efficient. so i've upped the distance slightly and i already aim for my local "hills" but i live on the norfolk/suffolk border!!
yes it is VERY addictive, i'm loving it.
oh yea, i forgot to mention, i love the handlingTo be old and wise, you must first be young and stupid......
