After riding Full Suss bikes for about five years, thought I'd get myself a decent HT for bombing around Bedgebury with the kids and stuff.
The good.. I got a £500 discount of RRP, it's got a reasonable spec so no immediate need for upgrades, it's actually really fun to ride, much faster than I thought it would be (or remember a HT would be) and everything works brilliantly so far
The not so good.. how bloody hard is a hard tail!
the bad.. came with Elixir 5's instead of 7's.. apparently this is what it came with from the supplier, but can't really take it further as I got it for such a good deal.

Looks fun! i like the long travel hardtail's
what cranks are those?0 -
cheers VWsurfbum, It was wierd, I was all for taking it easy, but ended up bombing it along the trail, the cranks are FSA Afterburner BB30.
I'll probably do a few races on it but it's primarily for singletrack stuff like Bedgebury.0 -
i bet its taking a bit of getting used to again after being able to relax going down all those roots0
-
Even just sitting on it and not sinking into the bike is a bit of a shock to be honest, even have to stand up for going of kerbs..0

Nice bike. Nearly bought one meself after the lbs discounted it but I held out too long and they sold it0
-
Where did you get it from and have they got any more?0

I got it from winstanley bikes

The one I got had Ilixir 5 instead of R's and a bog standard Deore front Mech but it was still a bargain.0 -

Awesome bike, I'm stunned by the capabilities of the stock bike never mind a no expense spared one like that.. looks too good! Took mine out last night on some of my regular trails that I do on my Yeti 575 and was amazed at how it went over everything with great confidence, even though it was wet, fantastic fun, would highly recommend this bike!0

Nice bike, I love steel hardtails. I've got a pretty hardcore one currently. The best one I've had so far was a Cove Handjob. What's the ride compliance like? Is there much give in the frame?0
-
I don't think I can give you a difinative answer on the amount of give in the frame, but going over the rought stuff it's no way as hard as I remember it being on an Alloy one, be great if anyone can give a comparison.0
