I was on holiday when the Aldi cycling stuff came out, but found one of our local shops with stock left. So I've just bought a pair of wraparound glasses with switchable lenses. I've only worn them twice so far, and they seem ok though changing the lenses is pretty fiddly.

I have an old pair of expensive sunglasses (not sports ones) I previously wore, but they don't provide the same eye protection, as they aren't so close fitting.
  • Cheapo set of Maddison d'Arcs, complete with 3 interchangeable lenses for the princely sum of about £25.

And the reason... Because I lose glasses all the bloomin' time.

I have a pair of Endura Sharks (not on the list) and some cheap Aldis. The Enduras are better than the Aldis (the lenses of those are not all well shaped - one tended to pop out until I filed it down a bit!). Hard to fault the Enduras for £30. Can't see any reason off hand to spend more.

Specialised/pro-lite for me with light reactive lenses. All 3 pairs for under the price of a pair of jawbones. Think the jawbones are lush - but can't justify them!

    Jawbones with photochromatic lenses-love em.

Also have the old DHB urban camo ones that were £5 a last year - I bought 3 pairs.

Haha, I bought three of those two, although two were for presents - the Bloc versions are £40 IIRC

I had some cheapie DHB ones, but the frames cracked pretty quickly.
I have Bolle safety glasses for commuting, £7 a pop.
Somewhere I have some Madison multi lens glasses, which are pretty good.
I also have a pair of Specialized adaptalite glasses (Cheap in a sale), although I have to be honest not really noticed any change in the lens tint irrespective of sunlight (Probably why there were cheap) :-(
One pair of Oakley Half Jackets, hopefully soon to be two if Oakley honour the deal.
I would then have 24K lenses, gold iridium lenses, persimonn and yellow ones, should cover all conditions!

Btwinn from Decathalon - £22 for pair with 4 lenses. Also have Oakleys HalfJackets but now think I am a pratt for spending £115 on them just for posing as the Decathalon ones are perfectly good... :?

    All this talk of Radars.......

i see there is one set of frames, and path/range etc just dictates the size/shape of the lens?

Can anyone tell me what face size this suits?

I tend to go for smaller frames such as Monster pups/Half jackets - can anyone suggest what the fit is for these, and also maybe dare I say measure the distance from hinge to hinge?

    Cheers

Oakley Half-Jacket, rootbeer frames, gold iridium and fire iridium lenses (riding)
Oakley Ten, black frames, black lenses (casual riding, general kicking around)
Oakley Inmate, bronze frame, brown lenses (fashion, driving)

Wouldn't buy anything else, but all mine were purchased in the US so much cheaper than UK.

Edit: Lenses on Half-Jacket are XLJs, which surprisingly makes quite a bit of difference.
  • Oakley Half jackect XLJ's with Polariz(s)ed gold iridium lenses,. Amazing clarity, really better than all other makes of glasses.Including some prize winners i got from Endura this year, also cheapo Dhd ones, though for the money I still ask myself whether for the 75% saving for cheaper makes I can justify re purchasing Oakley replacement lenses (£85 each pair. frames not included)

Cheap raleigh ones from Argos for me

3 lenses do a great job.

I do own a pair of custom oakley fives that i used to wear but they were getting ruined by all the salt from my sweat so bought the raleighs for riding and the oakleys for posing.

I keep trying different brands but keep coming back to Oakley.

    DHB - frames broke x 2
Specialized - lens distortion then frame broke
Decathlon - lens too small - look crap!
    Bolle - slip down

    I have
Oakley Fives, Straight Jackets, Crosshairs and Radars.

Lovely all of them. Alothough its the crosshairs and the radars that get the most use, need to get some plainer coloured everyday ones too soon.

  • I've got a pair of Bolle Warrant glasses, not cheap (£80), but the comfiest specs I have ever worn, in fact I forget they are on they are so light. I have iridium, clear and yellow lenses and they take 30 seconds to change over. Trouble with sunglasses is the fit, what suits one persons face is a nightmare for someone else. I tried loads before settling on the Warrant.

I've got some Bloc Stealths which were £30at Halfords. Oddly enough, I'd tried a pair on with the intention of buying them with money from my (as was) upcoming birthday. Strangely enough my brother bought me the exact same ones even though I went on my own when trying them. I was reluctant to go Oakley etc because I already have a significant spend on my regular glasses for work (professional driver) and didn't want to spend a ridiculous amount. Before the Bloc's I just wore my old driving sunglasses (regular ray bans) but they were a bit windy. And crap at night.

The Blocs aren't vented and don't have interchangeable lenses but this is of no real concern to me just yet. They seem virtually indestructable.

  • I have a pair of rudy projects with some chromatic lenses, and some silvered smoke ones. Ealrier this week bought a pair of sunwise shades for £36 or so from Cyclopaedia in Cardiff, and I prefer them. The RPs are undoubtedly better quality materials, and don't attract sweat so much but they are sooo damn ugly!
