Was toying with replacing a 200 x 57 rear shock with a 200 x 50 shock (my mates selling it) Would this just be daft or will it work? I don't do big drop-offs etc, just Llandegla trails, small jumps and 2 foot drop-offs at the most.
My bike is a Kona Coiler.
Cheers

it will make your head angle slacker and the seat angle slacker and reduce the rear travel."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Not sure why it will make any difference to angles since the shock is identical in length. Travel will be reduced though.
if it was 193/50 then I agree with Nicklouse - otherwise I think, dare I say it, he might be wrong :shock:0 -
Once sag is set, it will be shorter.I don't do smileys.

A difference of 2-3mm depending on your preference. And mine would be to run less sag.0

OK, thanks. Im on a low budget for a couple of months so the offer of either a Manitou Radium R (very cheap) or an ex specialized pitch Rock Shox ario RL (cheap) was tempting as a replacement for my coil shock. But as there both 200 x 50, it looks like Im best holding out for the proper 200 x 57 size.cheers0

fwiw - I run the exact opposite 200 x 57 instead of a 200 x 500
