This is my first bike in 20 years. I bought her last October from the classified section on here, upgraded most of the bits in the last few months and now have even started on another build of a fair weather race bike.

    Looks rock solid

I doubt changing the frame to something newer would make any difference, unless you'd rather have a different colour or something. I quite like this one, almost looks retro. Get some knobblies on there and race the beast :D

I think your computer wiring needs some attention though, couple of cable ties should do the trick. Do you get any fork judder or squealing when braking?

I like this frame, but its in need of some tlc, flaking areas around the bb and seat stays. So its either a respray or a new frame.

Get a fair amount of squeal from the front brake, only since I got the Open pros though. Not sure what to do to fix it or even if i'm going to bother! It's almost like having a horn!

Ive got knobbies and I'm planning on racing it, probably starting at Mugdock park in Glasgow Spetember some time. I have a shorter stem too when this comes to pass.

    You need one of these

    Just £3.50 here

The ones that hang off the stem cause pig squeal noises

Cool, I'll give it a whirl, for £3.50 can't go wrong.

    Many Thanks!

Only £3.50 but £3.50 delivery on that I couldn't swallow! Besides new forks ment no squeal, so no need :)

Update on my baby, work has prevented her becoming anything more than a KOM challenging commuter, I still dream on her becoming a Scottish Cyclocross contender...who knows maybe this year!

    Apologies on the crap photo

Very nice. I have a Kona Jake and I think it's great.

How are you finding the newly fitted forks? I replaced the Kona P2's on mine last year for some Kinesis carbon ones and it definitely changed the whole feel of the bike - much smoother.

    Yeah I love the Orange!

The new forks are great, many pot holes were i live in South Perthshire and they not only take out a little road buzz but the sting out of catching the odd bad one. Having said that caught a bad one today and I nearly cut my front inner tube in half, still nothing would have helped that!

By far the biggest difference, however, has been the new crankset. So stiff and upto anything my 100kg frame and 20" thighs can through at it!
