Hello peeps,
trying to help a friend get her first bike
She does not want it for commuting, just for leisure, and to go and see family members etc etc.
I expect she needs a fairly simple hybrid, that she can fit mudguards and possibly a rack too.
I have managed to push her budget upto £150, if the bike is superb, so can anyone start me off with some links?
I had a quick look at Argos, as I remember a thread a while back extolling the virtues/value of a bike on there, but I can't find it now.
Halfords do not seem to have much besides an apollo.
Am I best to go second hand?
I'm thinking something like a second hand Carrera subway one or two would probably be the most sensible choice?
Or a Carrera gryphon perhaps.
Cheers
Dan

The subway is a good if basic machine - and secondhand should be easily found in your price bracket.FCN 5 belt driven fixie for city bits
