The dissenter is every human being at those moments of his life when he resigns
momentarily from the herd and thinks for himself.

I dont think Cav's the most natural speaker, whenever I see him do an interview I tend to cringe, appart from when he's just won a sprint and getting interviewed, then he sounds quite normal, but if it's with a non cycling related reporter its a bit painful to watch, sports personality of the year for example.0

he's always dreadful when it comes to cycling. During the Tour he made so many mistakes. At least the other sports presenters BBC have are more rounded in their knowledge of sport. This chap only seems to know about football.0 -
What i like about Cav is when he gets speaking about his job you can see the passion. I reckon he'd talk for hours once he gets going.0

I agree, although I think he came across reasonably well on BBC Breakfast. There's a video clip on the BBC website of what must have been a radio interview, there were a few times where Cav gave a one word answer said "erm", paused a second and before he could expand further (which you could tell he was about to) the radio presenter jumped in. On TV it's not so bad to pause because the audience can see you thinking or about to speak, radio's a bit more tricky though.0 -

Herbsman / Happiness1982 > What's up with you PC police? It was a way for TMR to distinguish the presenter from the other two. There were two males, one black one white. In the absence of knowing their names what's up with saynig "black presenter". It wasn't done in a derogatory way, unless you think TMR was implying he was a crap presenter because of the colour of his skin, in which case you are mental.0

The question is, if the roles had been reversed, would he have said...
‘the white guy doing the interview was rubbish’
Or would he have said...
‘the guy doing the interview was rubbish’
In fact, why didn’t he just say anyway regardless of who was doing it...
‘the guy doing the interview was rubbish’
In the first place, surely that would be enough to distinguish him from the guy not doing the interview? It obviously wasn’t a overtly racist thing to say though. However to what extent though was the colour of the interviewers skin relevant to how good or bad Mad Rapper thought he was though?Mañana0 -
not really. The guy who, in theory, wasn't doing the interview, probably did more of the interview than the guy that should have been doing the interview.
We have no way of knowing whether he'd have said "white guy". Would people have raised the point if he said the "young guy" or the "older guy". Both could be considered ageist. It was just a way of distinguishing who he was talking about and wasn't used in a derogatory fashion. Surely terms like that are only racist if used in a derogatory fashion, which this wasn't.0 -

Eh? They were white obviously. Oh, I see where this is going...
I simply described him as 'the black guy', because I have no idea what his name is and it was a quick way to diferentiate him from the 2 main presenters.
The comment was about how crap he is as a presenter and certainly not a comment on his ethnicity.
Hope that clears it up.0 -

Thats a bit sexist, what has his gender got to do with it?
He was crap I hated it when he kept calling him 'Cav' as if they were best mates down the pub, I don't recall David Beckham refered to as 'Becks' when on the Breakfast sofa!?0 -
