changing superstar hub adaptors

I need to remove the adaptors from my front and rear superstar switch evo hubs in order to fit another type of adapter. The current adaptors are qr. According to the superstar website, the front ones should simply snap off without tools and the rear requires a 5mm allen key. However, even after wrapping the adaptor in a towel(front) and pulling with all my strength, they still wont come off. Is there something im missing?

    in that case have a look for a retainer.

    or use some tool to get a better grip.
