Is this a no no to wear in Spain ? I've had one a couple of years, just because I liked the design and when I first bought it (before Valverde's ban) riding in mainland Spain I got plenty of (I think) complimentary shouts from other (Spanish) riders. When I went to Majorca this year not only did I see very few people wearing the same top (not many Movistar either for that matter) but I heard one or two comments shouted at me from other riders (which I didn't understand but thought could be non complimentary). Is there a reason for this ,i.e. is Caisse D'Eparne now a disliked brand in Spain since they withdrew from cycling and Valverde got banned, is it coz its so 2009 and totally out of fashion or am I being paranoid ?

I guess you would care if you kept getting stuff shouted at you...

Probably not so much, maybe if my family or friends were shouting things at me, but randomers on the street don't matter to me.

Why the hell is everyone coming on here asking what clothes they are allowed to wear?

Am I missing out on some social conduct?

Jeez, just wear what the hell you want!

I'm not asking for permission or approval about the jersey, I like it and wear it often. I'm just asking whether there is some feeling in Spain against wearing Caisse D'Epargne stuff that I am not aware of.

Dunno if it's a Basque/Catalan\Andaluce thing?! Maybe you'd have been better off in a Euskadel-Euskadi jersey?!?

I ve no idea mind, just guessing!

Just thank the lord you weren't wearing a yellow jersey, they would of probably and quite rightly killed you :D

In all seriousness I'd hazard a guess that you don't look spanish and they were commenting on how they dislike brits wearing such a sacred shirt and that you should go home and purchase a sky top por favor

Caisse D'Eparne is a bank, isn't it? Maybe they were expressing their distaste for the current financial situation...?

I have the kit and it rocks - Sunday best kit alongside Fassa Bortolo white 'n' blue.

Funk them - wear what you want - see posts passim.

And those who say that you can't wear what you want - funk them as well. Geeks.

If it makes you feel good, then do it.

As per the OP - nope, no idea at all about C D'E partisanship. Sorry.

Dont think thats why they were shouting at you! You sure you werent on the wrong side of the road?

Caisse, especially in the earlier variants with the Mallorca tourist board co sponsoring, are pretty common kits to wear here in Mallorca. Even the Katyushka kits are still pretty popular here despite Toni Colom having been in that team when he got busted for EPO

Next time someone shouts at you just shout "me-cag-en-dieu" back and youll be fine.

I saw a whole bunch of people being booed for wearing Caisse D'Eparne gear at the TdF.

At the grand depart there was an English guy at my campsite who was confused after getting the same treatment.
