Hi, does anybody know if it is possible to change quick release axle hubs by installing solid axles? I have an old steel frame Raleigh mountain bike with drop outs and both hubs are pretty worn, I can get some used replacement complete wheels locally. The widths are right 100mm front, 130mm rear and the rims 26inch, not sure how many gears, no cassette fitted.
I just need to know if solid axles would fit and as my old wheel has screw on 6 speed freewheel can you buy a 6 speed cassette and use a spacer.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

normally yes but it does depend on the hub.

but you can keep them as is if you want.

but be aware 130 is not an MTB hub width and it is not a freewheel hub width. It is a current road hub width.

so check your frame and double check the hub widths.
