Hi Everyone
I'm an MTB rider looking to buy a cheap road bike to see if I like road cycling. I don't want to spend a fortune in case I don't get the buzz! Am I wasting my time with a £239 Raleigh Race - http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/raleigh-rac ... ke-p181140
Can anyone recommend a starter road bike for a beginner or does anyone have a bargain 2nd hand bike for sale (29in inside leg)?
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Or would this be better http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/criterium-road-bike-p181094.
I am 5.9inch with a 29 inch inside leg, which frame size should I go for?

In all honesty, you'd be better off looking for a decent 2nd hand bike on here or eBay. It'll be better spec'd and if you don't like the road bike scene, it'll hold it's value to sell on a lot better0

get on ebay and get yourself a Carrera virtuoso. You'll get a decent one for £150 - £180 ish. It'll be better than that raleigh and as mentioned previously hold it's value better.0

There are classifieds on this very site. .0

Definitely try 2nd hand as £240 isn't enough to get a reasonable new roadie and the experience might just put you off for good.0
